The Colt Python ceased mass production in 1999. Colt continued to produce Pythons for custom orders until 2005 when the limited number of parts that were left were finally all used. However, in 2020 Colt announced that it would begin manufacturing new versions of the Colt Python line. These new models are made of a stronger stainless steel than the originals and they are available in 4.25” or 6” barrels with wood grips.
